Florida Dock & Marine Expo By the FMCA

The FMCA had their Dock and Marine Expo last weekend in Orlando. In the picture above is the President, John Loftis of  Loftis Marine Division Inc. in Pensacola Florida. www.loftismarine.com.

The FMCA is an non-profit organization for contractors, associates and professionals working in the marine industry.  The goal is to improve marine construction. The marine contractors must be licensed and be insured professional marine builders.

This year the expo was at the  Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort. Meg Slentz Nagy at Meetings To Order did a great job of getting everything organized. She always does a great job with the food. Meg's web site is www. meetingstoorder.com. There were a lot of new vendors and it was good to see contractors participate. The expo is a good networking tool. Besides learning  something new every time I go, it is fun time.

Thru Flow and The Canine Ranch

www.thecanineranch.com

Chris McLeod at The Canine Ranch wanted something other than wood for ramps for her furry friends.  ThruFlow worked perfectly for her application.  It was another fun use of Thruflow grated decking.  Chris should not be replacing her ramps like she was having to do with wood. Chris,  Thanks for using ThruFlow and sharing your pictures.

Directional strength
Corrosion & weather resistance
Dimensional stability
Low thermal conductivity
Low coefficient of thermal expansion
Non-Magnetic

Ferreira Construction and Stuart Boardwalk with Harbor Tech Composites Pilings

Ferreira Construction in Stuart Florida  added to the Stuart Boardwalk.  They used Harbor Technology  Composite pilings.  It was my first Harbor Tech Composite piling job in Stuart Florida.  Since I live in Stuart, I give a very  special Thanks to Ferreira Construction.  The piles were driven with impact hammer and went in very smoothly.  One of guys said they were alot easier to carry than treated lumber piles

It will be an added benefit for the City of Stuart because they should last 40 plus years. No chemicals to leach in the water, no rust, no bore problem, no cracking..  In the long run it should save the city money.

Ferriera Construction does commercial and residential marine construction. They do docks, piers, breakwaters, dredging, shore hardening, shoreline development, bridges and FDOT work.  Their phone number is 772-286-5123.

Harbor Technologies  web site is www.harbortech.us.  Thanks to them for manufacturing a long lasting durable pile in any size and length without splices

Redfish Marine Construction ThruFlow in Destin

RedFish Marine Construction just finished a boardwalk from Destin Beach to a Condo.  It looked BEAUTIFUL.  I thought this is great for Condos on the beach because ThruFlow doesn't get hot . This is especially nice since  the sand can really get hot.

Another plus is with the anti slip surface. Sand would be knocked off your feet so that it would not be tracked onto other surfaces. Also the Thru Flow grated panels would help with this also.

Another feature for the condo is no maintenance.  They  should be enjoying their new walkway for many, many years.

RedFish Marine Construction is located in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.  There phone number is 850-622-3272.  Their web site is WWW. Redfishmarine.com.  They would be glad to help you and do a terrific job.

For more additional info on ThruFlow  go to www. ThruFlow.com

ThruFlow Booth at the IMBC Conference in Tampa

Derek McGivern, General Manager of ThruFlow Corporation, had a booth at the IMBC Conference in Tampa  this past week.  I have been selling ThruFlow for 4 years now and  have enjoyed every minuet of it.  It is truly a premium decking. It does cost more than wood but last probably 3 to 4 times longer with a lot advantages. There is no maintenance, does not get hot, helps with storm surge, has  UV inhibitors. There  is 12 year 100% warranty.

Here is Derek with Chris Way,President, and Bill Adams, Sales Manager,  from No Profile Boatlifts. No Profile manufactures premium  boat lifts. Check out their web site at www.noprofileboatlifts.com.
No Profile is using ThruFlow on some of their lifts. We were told it was going to be a standard for their 30,000 lb boat lift.  We can't wait to see the pictures of one being installed in Texas!!

IMBC show was hard work but fun. It was good to see old friends and make new ones.  Derek got out of the cold weather from Canada.   I really Thank him for coming and having a booth.

Canaveral National Seashore and ThruFlow

Seminole Rest part of Canaveral National Seashore

Our National Park service has just installed a new ThruFlow pier at Seminole Rest in Oak Hill , Florida.

Mark Hempe with the National Park Service has been evaluating ThruFlow for over a year. He wanted to make sure that the material held up because over a million visitors  come to the National Seashore each year. So far it is passing with flying colors!!! He has not seen any signs of spider cracks, color has not faded, and the non-skid is holding up.

ThruFlow is great product for applications  for a long lasting pier, where there is no maintenance, ADA compatible , very foot friendly!!!

Derek McGivern has put a lot of time and effort to understand the materials and UV protection that we need to survive the Florida sun. Go to www.ThruFlow.com and see specifications and 3rd party testing.

Skip Savage built the  beautiful pier overlooking the ICW. It is very sturdy and the carpentry is supurb.
I would love to be out there when a storm comes through. I got the  feeling that the way Skip built the pier that it would survive.

Oak Hill reminded me of old Florida.  It was a treat . We have some great National Parks so  take time and enjoy. Web site www.nps.gov.
